For a Great Party, a Luau Theme Is Hard to Beat

Are you planning to have a party soon? Do you want to make your party unique and fun but are having trouble coming up with a theme? While just having a random party can be great, sometimes it's nice to have a solid theme for your party. Having a central theme for your party can help you decide which decorations you'll be using, if any. No matter what time of year or what type of party you're having, here are some great reasons why you should consider having a luau.

Food: Luau food is unique enough to be different from the standard fare that your guests are likely eating every day. However, it's not so strange and outrageous that you'll scare away your less adventurous guests. A luau-catering company such as Marians Island Wide Catering can provide you with a variety of delicious dishes that you and your guests are sure to enjoy. If you have vegan or pescatarian friends, they will likely appreciate the inclusion of poi or salmon among the dishes provided. For your other guests, your luau catering company can provide roast pork and other hearty dishes with meat in them.

Decorations: A luau lends itself to a wide variety of decoration types. For more subtle decoration, you may simply include pineapples on the tables and maybe a grass skirt on the table where the food sits. On the other hand, you can go all out and decorate profusely. Put up a tiki bar to serve drinks and ask that serving staff from the luau-catering company wear grass skirts over their uniforms. For a holiday party, you could have a surfing Santa arrive to hand out party favors to your guests. For summer parties, if you don't have an in-ground pool, you can set up at least a small above-ground pool for your guests to enjoy.

Appropriate for all ages: Some types of parties are clearly intended solely for one age group. Princess parties, for example, are usually attended by very young children while other party themes can easily bore children or be completely inappropriate. A luau party requires only small tweaks to make it one that anyone can attend. For an adult party, you may have an open bar that allows anyone to get a drink. For a more family-friendly party, you may want to limit the drinks to just one or two per person and have games or contests available for your guests, such as limbo.
